Multi-Academy Trust consultation

Welcome to the Industrious Education Trust’s academy consultation web page. This page has been set up to provide important information regarding the proposal to create a new Multi Academy Trust dedicated to serving the Kirklees area.

Our primary focus at this time is to ensure that all stakeholders understand our proposals and have ample opportunities to seek clarification and provide feedback.

The stakeholder consultation period ran from 9 April 2024 to 29 April 2024 inclusive. We involved parents, carers, staff, pupils, and the wider community in discussions regarding the proposal to create a new Multi Academy Trust dedicated to serving the Kirklees area.

The final consultation report and feedback questions is now available by accessing the following links:

Schools Seek Community Feedback on Plans to Become Academies and Join Industrious Education Trust

The Governing Bodies of North Huddersfield Trust School, Mill Lane Primary School, and Ashbrow School are seeking the local community's views on their plans to become academies and join a proposed new Multi-Academy Trust.

Senior staff and the Governors at all three schools have spent time researching and undertaking due diligence, looking at the options for moving each school forward. As a result, they have decided that the best option to explore further is to look at extending their partnerships, consider becoming an academy, and join a new Multi Academy Trust (MAT) initially with three other local schools:

  • Birkby Junior School
  • Moldgreen Community Primary School
  • Dalton School

To support you in understanding the proposals in greater detail and have your questions answered, information will be available on the schools’ own websites under the section ‘Academy Consultation’.

Who are Industrious Education Trust?

The Industrious Education Trust are a group of 6 Kirklees schools who are currently exploring the creation of a new multi academy trust to serve the schools and the wider communities in which they serve.

How can you be involved?

We are looking to establish a shadow Board of Trustees and Members to support our application to establish our new Trust.

We would like to recruit a diverse non-executive Board with the right skills and experiences that will support us on our journey.

Our new Trustees and Members will have a diverse range of skills, experiences, qualifications, characteristics and perspectives. They will be from different backgrounds and settings and will have a positive impact on setting the strategic direction for the organisation with children, learning and communities at its heart.

With this in mind, we have established an open and transparent recruitment process that is communicated to all stakeholders from the schools and beyond. This will ensure a successful recruitment process that results in the right appointments made based on skills and experience, as opposed to geography or prior involvement.
